I am returning to my homeland in Colorado Springs and will embark on a new adventure.
I just wanted to say adios to those in my class.
Mrs. K, I have really enjoyed your lessons. You are one of the greatest teachers I have ever had. Good luck with your little one.

Kady

Watchdogs of Democracy?

I'm not exactly certain how relevant this book is on my journey towards becoming a journalist, unless I take a turn and decide to be a White House correspondent, but non-the-less I find it fascinating.
The forward has the most in common with what has been discussed in class stating, "Journalists, as purveyors of information, are the watchdogs of democracy. Without an informed people, their can be no democracy. It is the job of the reporters and editors to ask the tough questions of those in power and to act on the answers with trust, integrity, and honesty guiding their judgments." I love this statement and will strive to live by it.
I don't really care for the excessive examples of all the journalists who have fucked up over the years or all the scandals that have occurred throughout presidential history, but I really loved reading about the excitement of being a journalist before Internet ruled the world.
This book also opened my eyes to the lack of integrity and valiance journalists possess these days. I am reminded of the documentary we watched in 101 about how corporate the media has become.
